The Word On The Street is a non-profit organization that celebrates Canadian reading, writing, and champions literacy primarily through a free, annual outdoor festival. Each September, in communities from coast to coast, we invite everyone to participate in hundreds of author events, presentations and workshops, and to browse a marketplace that boasts the best selection of Canadian books and magazines you’ll find anywhere. And it’s free! The Lethbridge Public Library has been a proud member of The Word on the Street since 2011.
The Lethbridge Public Library is proud to join communities across the country in a national celebration of literacy, storytelling, and the literary arts, by bringing The Word On The Street Festival to Lethbridge for the 9th year in a row.
The Word On The Street Festival is growing into a signature event in Southern Alberta, where we present established and emerging authors, storytellers, informative panel discussions, demonstrations and workshops, street performers, live music, and a bustling marketplace. We strive to create a festival that represents the diversity of our community, is accessible to all ages, and most importantly is well attended, lively, and fun.
There is always plenty to see and do at Canada’s largest book and magazine festival, and best of all, The Word On The Street and all of its events are No Fee!
