Event Name: Short Story Book Club in Berczy Park
Location: Berczy Park
What Is It: Join the Toronto Public Library St Lawrence Branch and Friends of Berczy Park for their new summer book club in Berczy Park! There’s no assigned pre-reading—copies of the story will be handed out at the event for communal reading and discussion. Not only is this a great way to meet other members of the community – including dedicated book-lovers – it’s also a great activity for anyone who wants to practice their English reading, including newcomers to Canada.

Event Name: Storytelling at Stonegate Farmers’ Market
Location: Stonegate Farmers’ Market
What Is It: Fun tales and stories galore! Come out to the Farmers’ Market on July 31st and enjoy captivating short stories for kids of all ages told by a guest storyteller.
Accessibility: Stonegate Farmers’ Market takes place in a parking lot that is level with an adjacent sidewalk.

Event Name: The Ward Uncovered Reading – Emancipation Day
Location: A Different Booklist
What Is It: Join Coach House and A Different Booklist to celebrate Emancipation Day. There will be readings from The Ward Uncovered contributors Kathy Grant and Cheryl Thompson, as well as a tribute to the late Judge George Carter—one of the first Black Canadian-born judges—who would have turned 97 on August 1st.

Event Name: The Word On The Street Pop-Up!
Location: Dufferin Grove Farmers’ Market
What Is It: Join us on August 2 from 4-7pm for The Word On The Street Pop-Up! at the Dufferin Grove Farmers’ Market! Get into the vibe of our annual September festival with readings from local talent like Andrea Curtis, Priya Ramsingh, Sylv Chiang, and Georgia Webber. Anjula Gogia from Another Story Bookshop will also be interviewing our authors about their latest works, and the Toronto Poetry Slam Team will join us to finish out the evening!

Event Name: Toronto Urban Book Expo (TUBE)
Location: Toronto Centre for the Arts
What Is It: TUBE celebrates urban fiction and culture. This event will feature published and independent writers selling their books at a free and family-friendly book fair. Live hip hop, R&B, reggae, and soca music will be provided by DJ Majesty.
