Volunteers are a fundamental part of The Word On The Street and we’re always looking for the best in the biz. Reasons to volunteer at the festival are endless, but if you are still undecided, this list might help.

1. You want to meet some of your favourite authors in person.
2. You’ve run out of t-shirts and want a free volunteer one.
3. You want to make amazing friends who love reading (those can be hard to find, but we have a bunch).
4. You stumbled into this universe and need an unassuming method to observe natural human behaviour.
5. You have friends who are also volunteering. We love team players!
6. You have excellent customer service skills.
7. All volunteers are invited to the Ontario Science Centre Volunteer appreciation event. Say what?!
8. You want to gain experience in an administrative role.
9. You’ve always wanted to play at the Ontario Science Centre as an adult.
10. You just started high school and want to finish those pesky volunteer hours within the first month.
11. You’re in your final year of high school and forgot that you have to complete volunteer hours to graduate.
12. You’re going to be an internationally renowned writer and want a story about volunteering for Canada’s largest book festival for future interviews.
13. You’ve visited The Word On The Street before and want a behind the scenes experience this time.
14. You need an excuse to play Pokemon GO at Harbourfront Centre.

18. Shifts are only 4 hours which allows you to help out and check out the programming.

21. You know there are great volunteer appreciation events before and after the festival.
22. You only volunteer for events that are held outside in the bright, bright sunshine.
23. Because it’s The Word On The Street Toronto! Come on!
24. You have wonderful book suggestions and you want to share them with as many people as you can.
25. Because science tells us that volunteers live longer than non-volunteers. Sweet.
