Festival News: Adopt an Author today!

August 19, 2010

It’s official! August marks the launch of Adopt an Author 2010.  Since Aug. 4, we have already had 14 adoptions, an overwhelming response!

Adopt an Author is a chance for The Word On The Street Toronto to both raise money for the festival and promote the many fabulous authors attending this year.  It also allows our beloved festival fans to truly showcase their support for Canada’s literary scene.

Your contribution of $100 gives you the opportunity to choose any of our participating authors to adopt! In return, you will get a FREE signed copy of your author’s book, a tax receipt for your charitable donation, recognition on our website and a chance to be the first person at the festival to meet and greet with your author.

Our headlining author Yann Martel has already been adopted twice, as well as the lovely Sheila Heti. But don’t despair! There are still plenty of authors that are looking to be adopted, including our newest addition Katherine Govier, author of Ghost Brush. Please, don’t leave our authors hanging 😉

If adopting isn’t your style but you still want to support The Word On The Street Toronto, please consider donating to us through Canadahelps, an organization that makes donating to charities online easier – Thank you very much CanadaHelps! Check out our page here.

Oh, and fun fact! Queen’s Park is 150 years old this year. Pretty big milestone. Congratulations for still looking so good Queen’s Park.
