<\/a>I have been attending The Word On The Street Toronto since 2005. I feel like the proverbial kid in a candy store, except in my case, it\u2019s books. I love reading, and ever since I published my first book, The Third Eye<\/em>, in 2007, this festival has taken on an even greater significance.<\/p>\nI have thoroughly enjoyed meeting authors I\u2019ve read and admired, and listened to authors I\u2019d never heard of, and came away awed at the literary richness this festival, and Canada, has to offer.<\/p>\n
So you can imagine my utter joy when I was invited to present my second book in the Tara Trilogy, titled The Silver Anklet<\/em>, by Nicola Dufficy, the Programming Development Associate at The Word On The Street, on September 26, 2010.<\/p>\n The Children\u2019s Reading Tent, where I\u2019ve spent most of my time during previous visits to The Word On The Street, was mine for twenty minutes. In front of a packed tent I did my first ever presentation at the festival and I have to say it was truly memorable. The staff were wonderfully organized. The presenter kept the schedule in tight control and the volunteers who escorted me to the author\u2019s signing tent were thorough professionals in a maelstrom of activity.<\/p>\n I\u2019ve done many school and library presentations since my books were released and yet I will never get used to interacting with my young fans and readers who shyly come up and ask me to sign their books (or arms, shoes, t-shirts and even a forehead!). That, to me, is the essence and joy of being a writer; to meet your fans and to hear that they connected with the story as strongly as you did when you first wrote it.<\/p>\n And it is festivals like The Word On The Street that make it happen.
