Stewart, during Youth Hour.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/torontowots.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/01\/armstrong-kelley-credit-curtis-lantinga.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-326\" style=\"margin-left:6px;margin-right:6px\" title=\"Armstrong, Kelley -- credit Curtis Lantinga\" src=\"http:\/\/torontowots.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/01\/armstrong-kelley-credit-curtis-lantinga.jpg?w=225\" alt=\"\" width=\"203\" height=\"270\" \/><\/a>I suspect that when I took the stage at the Remarkable Reads tent, it looked as if someone had rolled me out of bed a few minutes before, rumpled and bleary-eyed.\u00a0 I had just finished a twelve-city multi-author tour that I\u2019d co-organized, which culminated the day before an amazing event at the Brampton Chapters and the inaugural Indigo Teen Reads Award party.\u00a0 My clothing was \u201cwhatever was cleanest.\u201d\u00a0 I\u2019d lost my brush and had to resort to finger-combing.\u00a0 I think I was wearing makeup, but I can\u2019t guarantee it.<\/p>\n<p>As for what I\u2019d chosen to read\u2026\u00a0 Having taken a dozen flights in the previous two weeks, I didn\u2019t want to lug a book around for a reading.\u00a0 So I\u2019d printed out the prologue to my next teen novel and put it in my luggage.\u00a0 It was no longer in my luggage when I reached Toronto.\u00a0 I was frantically trying to get ahold of my husband to email it when my daughter\u2014who\u2019d joined me for the day\u2014reminded me that I had it on my website.\u00a0 Er, right\u2026\u00a0 So I just needed to download it onto my iPad.\u00a0 Except that I don\u2019t have 3G.\u00a0 As we discovered, the University of Toronto wireless network reaches Queen\u2019s Park.\u00a0 I swiped my daughter\u2019s login info and, presto, I had my chapter.\u00a0 And I\u2019m sure I looked very high tech up there reading from my iPad.<\/p>\n<p>After the reading, I met an attendee who had adopted me, which was a wonderful chance to take a moment with a reader before I was whisked off to sign.\u00a0 I had a very nice line, and met new readers and saw familiar faces.\u00a0 Books were signed.\u00a0 Photos were taken.\u00a0 Bookmarks were handed out, and I managed to find good homes for the free books I was given at the Indigo Teen Reads party\u2014having a family of readers meant there were only two in the bag we hadn\u2019t read yet, so I was delighted at the chance to give the others away.<\/p>\n<p>As always, The Word On The Street was a wonderful experience.\u00a0 Everyone is always so welcoming\u2026and no one says a word if the author looks like something the cat dragged in.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kelley Armstrong read in the Remarkable Reads Tent, presented by Random House of Canada Ltd. and McClelland &amp;
