{"id":3367,"date":"2010-07-08T16:43:59","date_gmt":"2010-07-08T16:43:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/torontowots.wordpress.com\/?p=75"},"modified":"2010-07-08T16:43:59","modified_gmt":"2010-07-08T16:43:59","slug":"publishing-news-indigo-to-sell-photography","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thewordonthestreet.ca\/toronto\/publishing-news-indigo-to-sell-photography\/","title":{"rendered":"Publishing News &#8211; Indigo to sell photography?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft\" style=\"margin-left:6px;margin-right:6px\" src=\"http:\/\/www.roots.com\/blog\/uploaded_images\/Indigo-store-facade-782900.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"216\" height=\"162\" \/>Just recently announced that Indigo Books &amp; Music Inc. will add a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.financialpost.com\/news\/Indigo+store+photo+departments\/3243135\/story.html\">photography department<\/a>.\u00a0 Customers will be able to bring in their own photos to print, create photobooks, buy photography as art and get their portrait taken.<\/p>\n<p>They are taking on this new endeavour to compensate for declining book sales for traditional book retailers, even though Indigo saw positive growth over the past retail year.\u00a0 On top of this they will also increase the amount of their own branded gift products they sell, and expand their toy departments to all 75 stores.<\/p>\n<p>Essentially, Heather Reisman, CEO of Indigo Books &amp; Music Inc. hopes that by adding more features to her stores, it will continue to entice people to still shop at stores versus just online.<\/p>\n<p>Very interesting.\u00a0 With the success of their toy and gift departments, I can see why they are expanding their reach further, especially in to the photo book market; I assume they will offer some pretty cool features.\u00a0 But will it be successful?
