Or a poem. Or an essay. Now what?<\/p>\n<p>You know you should send it somewhere, but where? There are great resources available like the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/books\/canadawrites\/a-guide-to-canadian-literary-magazines-and-journals-open-to-submissions-1.4242191\">CBC guide<\/a> to Canadian literary magazines, but as a writer who most likely has a day job, it can be hard to keep track of which magazines are open when. There are so many!<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s why we put together this quick list of ten Canadian literary magazines that are looking for submissions between August and October\u2014so you can stop creating spreadsheets, and start sending things out! (That said, remember to always make sure that the magazine you\u2019re submitting to is a fit for your work!)<\/p>\n<p>Check out the list below!<\/p>\n<p><b>Arc Poetry Magazine<br \/>\n<\/b><b>Open:<\/b> They reopen September 1, and stay open until May!<br \/>\n<b>What they\u2019re looking for:<\/b> \u00a0Inventive and evocative poetry from new and unique voices, especially Indigenous poets, women or female-identifying poets, and POC<br \/>\nGuidelines can be found <a href=\"http:\/\/arcpoetry.ca\/submit\/\">here<\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Augur Magazine<br \/>\n<\/b><b>Open:<\/b> September 1-30<br \/>\n<b>What they\u2019re looking for:<\/b> Dream-like realism, slipstream, and speculative fiction and poetry\u2014especially from under-represented, diverse, and\/or marginalized creators<br \/>\nGuidelines can be found <a href=\"http:\/\/www.augurmag.com\/submissions\/\">here<\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Existere<br \/>\n<\/b><b>Open:<\/b> Open year-around, but submit by December 31st to be considered for their Spring\/Summer issue<br \/>\n<b>What they\u2019re looking for:<\/b> Poetry, short plays, short stories, postcard\/flash fiction, art and literature reviews, critical essays, interviews, sketches, photos, etc<br \/>\nGuidelines can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/existere\/submissions.html\">here<\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Looseleaf Magazine<br \/>\n<\/b><b>Open:<\/b> Until September 20 for their themed issue, \u201cLabour\u201d.<br \/>\n<b>What they\u2019re looking for:<\/b> Poetry, visual art, comics, fiction, nonfiction, photography, short video\/film, animation, and music\/audio content produced by pan-Asian (they focus on South, Southeast, East, Mixed) creators<br \/>\nGuidelines can be found <a href=\"http:\/\/looseleafmagazine.ca\/submissions\/\">here<\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Montr\u00e9al Writes<br \/>\n<\/b><b>Open:<\/b> July 27 &#8211; August 16 for their August Issue, August 27 &#8211; September 16 for their September Issue<br \/>\n<b>What they\u2019re looking for:<\/b> Short stories (both fiction and non-fiction), poetry, artwork and photography<br \/>\nGuidelines can be found <a href=\"http:\/\/www.montrealwrites.com\/about\">here<\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Room Magazine<br \/>\n<\/b><b>Open:<\/b> Aug 1 &#8211; Oct 31 for their Open Issue<br \/>\n<b>What they\u2019re looking for: <\/b>Fiction, poetry, creative non-fiction, and visual art on any theme by women (cisgender and transgender), transgender men, Two-Spirit and nonbinary people<br \/>\nGuidelines can be found <a href=\"http:\/\/roommagazine.com\/submit\">here<\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>subTerrain Magazine<br \/>\n<\/b><b>Open:<\/b> Until September 1 for their Winter issue!<br \/>\n<b>What they\u2019re looking for: <\/b>Fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, essays, and commentary<b><br \/>\n<\/b>Guidelines can be found <a href=\"http:\/\/subterrain.ca\/about\/35\/sub-terrain-writer-s-guidelines\">here<\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>The Antigonish Review<br \/>\n<\/b><b>Open:<\/b> Open year round!<br \/>\n<b>What they\u2019re looking for:<\/b> Poetry, fiction, essays, articles, book reviews<br \/>\nGuidelines can be found <a href=\"http:\/\/www.antigonishreview.com\/index.php?option=com_content&amp;view=article&amp;id=190:submission-guidelines&amp;catid=65&amp;Itemid=101\">here<\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>The New Quarterly<br \/>\n<\/b><b>Open:<\/b> Year-round, but submit before September 1 for a faster than usual turnaround!<br \/>\n<b>What they\u2019re looking for:<\/b> Fiction, poetry and nonfiction<br \/>\nGuidelines can be found <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tnq.ca\/submit\">here<\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>The Temz Review<br \/>\n<\/b><b>Open:<\/b> Ongoing, but submit by October 1 to get into their fall issue<br \/>\n<b>What they\u2019re looking for:<\/b> Fiction, poetry, and reviews<br \/>\nGuidelines can be found <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thetemzreview.com\/submissions.html\">here<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Ok, writers, we\u2019ll cross our fingers for you.
