\n<\/span>Event Name: <\/b>Lang Maria Liu Book Launch<\/a>
\nLocation: <\/b>Gladstone Hotel
\nWhat Is It: <\/b>Bimba\u2019s Rhythm is One, Two, Three<\/i> is Lang Maria Liu\u2019s first book. Part ethnography, part travelogue and part personal odyssey, it bridges genres in its search for truth and hope. The reader is taken deep into the Afro-Bahian world of capoeira on the northeast coast of Brazil, where slave ships once plied the shores. During three trips to Brazil undertaken for her Ph.D., the boundaries between research and personal experience blur.

The one rule for this reading series is this: you have to read new writing. Anything read at this event must be new or recent. Repeats of poems are not allowed!

\nWhat Is It:<\/b> We know that writing can make you feel vulnerable. So come jam it out with other writers, get inspired, riff on ideas, and have a laugh. The jam is always facilitated by a head writer who has experience in stage, TV, Film, and editorial writing. They can offer personalized feedback on your work, and give you tips and tricks on how to get started or push through your writer\u2019s block.
