We can hardly believe it, but we have another fresh face in the office: Katie Sellers, our new Event Coordinator! Excited as ever to have a family twice as big as it was just last month, we’d like you to join us in welcoming this friendly personality to the team.<\/p>\n

As we did last week to get to know our new Programming Assistant, Loribeth<\/a>, we have asked Katie the most difficult questions we can think of to learn more about what makes her tick. What we learned: she gets right to the point, so don’t expect any beating around the bush!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n What book are you reading now?<\/strong><\/p>\n I am currently rereading North of South<\/em> by Shiva Naipaul. If I’m not travelling, there’s a pretty good chance I’m reading about someone going on an adventure.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n What part of reading brings you the most joy?<\/strong><\/p>\n The ability to see the world through someone else\u2019s eyes.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Have you ever fallen in love with a character from a book?<\/strong><\/p>\n Too many to count.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n What does your reading space look like?<\/strong><\/p>\n My reading space is as varied as the stories I’m reading.\u00a0For me any space can be perfect for\u00a0reading:\u00a0the couch in my apartment, a blanket in Trinity Bellwoods, or the floor of an Indian train station.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Do you judge a book by its cover?<\/strong><\/p>\n Books can be works of art, both inside and out.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n If you could have a conversation with any living writer, whether they speak English or not, who would they be and what would your first question be for them?<\/strong><\/p>\n For sure, I would want to talk to\u00a0Emma Donoghue. I’d ask her, \u201cWith the successful adaptation of Room<\/em>, would you consider adapting your other novels?\u201d<\/p>\n <\/p>\n If you could commission a sequel to any book you wanted, which one would it be?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Coming from the world of film, I’m not always so sure that sequels are a good idea.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n If you could come back as an edible crop, what you want to be? And what dish would you want to be made in to?<\/strong><\/p>\n Camellia sinensis. Who doesn\u2019t love to curl up with a cup of tea and a nice book?<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The music stopped. She died.
