As the classic idiom goes, “A picture is worth a thousand words.” Sculpting New Reads<\/a> (The Word On The Street’s contemporary art program) calls upon artists to bring to life the art of storytelling.<\/p>\n

For the second edition of Sculpting New Reads, we challenged four artists to create new installations inspired by the themes of four Canadian new releases. Featured books included: Alone in the Wilderness<\/em>, an epic northern adventure by Adam Shoalts; Cauchemar<\/em>, an eerie, romantic southern gothic by Alexandra Grigorescu; The Scorpion Rules<\/em>, a futuristic sci-fi by Erin Bow; and Undermajordomo<\/em> Minor<\/em>, a surreal fable without a moral by Patrick deWitt.<\/p>\n

Missed the exhibition? Fret not! Sculpting New Reads will be remounted at the International Festival of Authors<\/a> at Harbourfront Centre (Oct 22 – Nov 1). As a bonus we’ll be including two amazing installations from last year’s exhibition into the program.<\/p>\n
