Plan to spend a good portion of your day in the Studio Theatre<\/strong> in Harbourfront Centre, where the Humber School for Writers<\/strong> is hosting workshops covering craft and career strategy for aspiring writers.<\/p>\n

The CanLit landscape is growing and diversifying at a rapid pace, with new opportunities for previously unheard voices. As many aspiring writers know, worldbuilding is essential to a good story\u2014and not just fantasy and science fiction stories! To unlock the secrets of this skill, we’ve gathered three worldbuilding experts: Fonda Lee<\/strong>, Sienna Tristen<\/strong>, and Kelly Robson<\/strong>. Moderated by Can-Con SF’s Derek K\u00fcnsken<\/strong>, this panel is sure to spark some creativity.<\/p>\n

Diaspora Dialogues is offering all kinds of food for writerly thought this year. In a panel moderated by Aparitha Bhandari<\/strong>, authors S.K. Ali<\/strong>, Gwen Benaway<\/strong>, and T\u00e9a<\/strong> Mutonji<\/strong> will discuss the impact of the #MeToo movement on beloved but problematic works of art, as well as how it has affected their own creative processes. Essential for writing smart, sensitive work.<\/p>\n
