Is there a Canadian style? Can a country so large, so diverse, and so close to a style megapower differentiate itself in the world of fashion? Representatives from Canadian fashion publications talk about what is and what isn’t Canadian fashion, with examples of designers and companies across the country.

Randi Bergman

Randi Bergman is a fashion writer/editor based in Toronto whose work has been published in Vogue, The National Post, Interview Magazine, Broadly and Toronto Life. Previously, Bergman was the Executive Digital Editor of FASHION Magazine, overseeing its wealth of content and growing the digital platform into an award-winning and record-breaking hub for fashion, beauty, shopping and cultural content and increasing its social following to the largest of any magazine in Canada. Randi also co-chairs the Canadian Opera Company’s annual gala, Operanation.

Tim Chan

Tim Chan is the Co-Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Corduroy Magazine – an international arts and culture bi-annual. What started as a passion project between friends has grown into an award-winning publication, recognized around the world for its design and editorial philosophy. Prior to Corduroy, Tim worked in television, producing the morning show for Time-Warner cable news network NY1, before returning to Canada to work at MuchMusic and E!. Currently, Tim lives and works in Los Angeles, where he consults for a number of fashion and lifestyle companies. A native of Toronto, Tim obtained his B.A. from McGill and a Masters of Journalism from Columbia University.

Tanya Watt

Tanya has held creative positions at FLARE, Weddingbells, enRoute, and Toronto Life magazines. In 1996, she pioneered, the first online fashion and beauty website in Canada. Tanya maintained her position as FLARE‘s Art Director for 17 consecutive years before joining Judy Inc as a freelance Creative Director. Tanya is a regular consultant for the National Magazine Awards and the Advertising and Design Club of Canada and is a guest instructor at Ryerson University.
