\u00a0A classic that I have always wanted to read. Particularly interesting is the social politics on the ship (democracy, fate\/religion, racial diversity\/equality).\u00a0 Queequeg is also a hilarious character whose straight forward actions\/thinking constantly surprises other \u00a0characters’ sensibilities (feels like Dickens in that sense). \u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

This is a less popular sequel to The Three Musketeers. I enjoy reading stories of adventure from different times and cultures. The exaggerated definition of the “French gentleman” gives an interesting take on a world of men ruled by their passions and a strict code of honour\/conduct.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

This is one of my all-time favourite novels. I re-read it about once a year. Its a story of a traveler who is thrown from a ship and ends up in the world of fictional literature. The protagonist embarks on a classic quest where he encounters literary celebrities ranging from Beowulf to the Mad Hatter. It is one of those books that has you stop mid-sentence to look up references to see if you really recognize the character that just gave cheeky directions to Dante’s Inferno.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n
