About Us

The Word On The Street is a non-profit organization that celebrates Canadian reading, writing, and champions literacy primarily through a free, annual outdoor festival. Each September, in communities from coast to coast, we invite everyone to participate for free in hundreds of author events, presentations and workshops, and to browse a marketplace that boasts the best selection of Canadian books and magazines you’ll find anywhere.

Word on the Street is Back!

This year the festival will be at two great locations, Kitchener City Hall and The Kitchener Market.

Be sure to check out this year’s lineup of great Canadian Authors presenting on the Waterloo Region Record Stage at City Hall. There is something for everyone:

The king of Canlit humour Terry Fallis, memoirist and humanitarian Amanda Lindhout, bestselling young adult author Kenneth Oppel, The “Awesome” Neil Pasricha, and master of thrills Andrew Pyper.
